Instagram is in the process of introducing a significant enhancement to its Reels video feature, allowing users to artical videos up to 10 minutes in duration. Under the subsidiary ownership of Meta, the photo-sharing app is working to extend the duration of Reels articals to 10 minutes. It's worth noting that currently, Instagram allows for Reels videos of up to 3 minutes in length.

A Twitter user shared a screenshot revealing that the duration of Reels videos is being extended to 10 minutes.

Subsequently, Instagram also confirmed that the company is testing this new feature internally. This move aims to position Instagram as a more robust video-sharing platform similar to TikTok and YouTube. While TikTok already allows for 10-minute long videos, Instagram's move in the same direction showcases its intent to compete in this domain. The addition of longer Reels videos on Instagram was also influenced by the impact of TikTok. While both TikTok and Instagram are embracing longer videos as part of their platforms, YouTube is focusing more on shorter videos.

In the past month, Instagram has introduced several new features.

These include the addition of music in carousels, the ability to collaborate on articals with up to three friends, and the noteworthy Add Your Stickres feature.
