Why the Pakistan-Australia Test trophy named Beno Qadir?

The Beno Qadir Trophy between Pakistan and Australia will start from tomorrow. The trophy has been named after the legendary cricketers.

The trophy, introduced by the Pakistan Cricket Board and Cricket Australia, has been attributed to legendary league spinners Abdul Qadir and Richie Benoit.

The purpose of naming the trophy after him is to pay tribute to both the legendary players and to give special significance to the historic tour of Australia after 24 years.

It may be recalled that Australia made its first visit to Pakistan in 1959. In this tour, Richie Benoit led the Australian team.

On the other hand, the reason for attributing the trophy to league spinner Abdul Qadir is his Test wickets against Australia. Abdul Qadir in 11 test matches aginst Australia has taken had taken 45 wickets.
