Apple has significantly expanded its portfolio over the last several years. The giant from Cupertino introduced the iPhone for sale (check the latest information about the iPhone 13), which immediately became a sales hit. Later, the iPad was added to the offer, which also broke sales records for a long time.
The growing popularity of the iPhone caused the increase in sales of Mac computers and prompted Apple to produce accessories - Apple TV, Air Pods and the Apple Pencil. The whole is complemented by Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness +, Apple TV + and the iCloud cloud services package. We must not forget about the Apple Home standard and the iPhone-to-car communication system - Apple Car Play.
It might seem that Apple has a solid portfolio, but in practice it quickly turns out that without the products of the three companies it is impossible to build a fully functional ecosystem of electronic devices and Smart Home.
Here are the biggest shortcomings in Apple's offer. What products has the giant from California forgotten?
Apple AirPort network devices
Apple AirPort is a family of network devices that debuted on the market in 1999. Although hardly anyone remembers about them - Apple stopped producing them only in 2018.
Marketing specialists chose the name AirPort, which literally means airport, for network devices for a reason.
Apple AirPort routers were at the heart of the entire Apple system just before the iPhone and iPad were launched.
Currently, Apple does not offer network devices. To create a complete ecosystem and connect all Apple devices, we need a third-party router. This element is necessary to create a Wi-Fi network through which we connect Apple equipment.
ISight webcam for desktop computers
Apple still sells computers without a built-in webcam. I'm talking about Mac mini and Mac Pro. In our case, we are more interested in a cheap Mac mini for around PLN 3,500. It is a frequently chosen device that does not have a built-in webcam. It is a pity that Apple does not provide for the possibility of buying a dedicated iSight camera.
In 2003 - at a time when even laptops did not have webcams - Apple introduced the iSight webcam. It allowed to record the image in a resolution far from today's standards (VGA), and the whole thing was expensive and large.
It does not change the fact that currently there is no external Face Time HD camera dedicated to Mac mini computers and Pro Display XDR monitors in the portfolio.
The new generation of iPod
There is nothing to cheat - the days of the iPod are long behind us. Currently, the iPhone has taken over the role of the mobile music player, and years ago Apple replaced the iPod icon with Music. It does not change the fact that the portfolio lacks a modern iPod. If Apple still sells the iPod touch, why is it offering us an outdated device?

The commercially available iPod touch is currently the only Apple mobile device without a fingerprint or face scanner. In addition, it is the last four-inch hardware running iOS.
Apple should launch a refreshed version of the iPod touch or completely withdraw from selling this equipment.
Apple TV
Apple offers Apple TV, but contrary to logic, it is not about the TV at all. Apple TV is a device that initiated the fashion for set-top boxes years ago. Apple TV is a home entertainment center that needs to be connected to your TV. And while we are talking about it - Apple does not have one on offer. To use Apple TV, we need a TV from another manufacturer.
In addition, if we decide on a model from LG or Samsung, we will get a built-in Apple TV and AirPlay 2. At this point, the Apple TV adapter loses most of its advantages.
Apple Sound Bar
Apple's offer is missing not only a TV. A smart sound bar with built-in Apple AirPlay 2 would also be useful. Apple offers smart Home Pod speakers with pre-installed Siri voice assistant. The company could apply this technology to a TV sound bar.
