Samsung released a new 24-inch monitor this week aimed at hybrid workers who regularly video confer with colleagues and customers. Samsung launches 24-inch monitor with pop-up webcam.

It's called the Webcam Monitor S4 (S40VA) and has 2W speakers, a microphone, and a built-in pop-up webcam. The most interesting feature is the webcam, which offers a 2.1 megapixel camera with full HD resolution and an infrared camera in a module that simply pops up by pressing on the top of the monitor. This guarantees a certain level of privacy when sliding it back into the monitor housing.

The webcam is Windows Hello certified, which Samsung claims can unlock your computer in two seconds. I doubt the time it takes to press the monitor for the webcam to appear.

The display is 1080p with 250 nits of brightness and supports AMD FreeSync. These include HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, D-Sub, audio and headphone inputs, as well as an integrated USB 3.0 hub (one on top, two on bottom) and wall mount options if desired.

Although the webcam is located at the top center of the monitor, you can rotate the screen 90 degrees vertically by placing the webcam on its side. It will still work in this configuration and is considered a good option. You can buy the monitor now for $319.99, which makes a lot of sense if you don't feel the need to buy a webcam or speakers separately, while also helping to hold your desk with ease. Reuters
