This year's Galaxy Watch 4 will debut with the new One UI Watch system. Unfortunately, the older models will not get the new system. Oddly enough, Samsung wants to force Samsung Gear owners to upgrade to the Tizen OS system.

During this year's MWC 2021, Samsung announced its new operating system, which will debut with the Galaxy Watch 4 series. This year's smart watches are to operate on the basis of the One UI Watch platform, which is a combination of Wear OS from Google and Tizen, which was the current software Wearable™s from Samsung.

By joining forces with Google, one of the main new opportunities that One UI Watch will bring will be access to a wider selection of applications on Samsung's smart watches. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not decided to update the previous generations of smart watches to the new software. All Galaxy Watch 3 and earlier models will not be upgraded to One UI Watch.

The first Galaxy smart watch - Galaxy Gear - which runs on a custom version of Android has received an update to Tizen OS. Samsung says customers who still own this model have had enough time to perform the operating system update. From now on, it will require an upgrade to the Tizen system to continue using the Galaxy Store to download applications. From August 5, Samsung will stop offering support for the Galaxy Store on the Galaxy Gear. This means that applications and other services will no longer be available. Samsung, however, reports that customers can upgrade their watch to the Tizen system so that they can continue to use the Galaxy Store.
