Meta's newly introduced app "Threads" has experienced a noticeable decline in its daily user count, in contrast to its initial momentum in the face of competition with Twitter. According to a report, the social media app, which started strong in July, has seen a significant drop of 79% in the number of daily users over the course of a month. At the beginning of July, the app had amassed a user count of 230,000 individuals using Threads daily; however, by August 7th, this number had dwindled to 576,000.

It's worth noting that Threads was launched by Meta on July 5th, and within a week, it garnered over 100 million users. This marked the fastest accumulation of 100 million users for any app. However, it seems the initial surge of interest has waned, and the daily user count for Threads has now significantly decreased in comparison to Twitter's massive user base of over 1 billion daily users.

Threads was introduced as a response to Twitter's decision to impose a limit on the number of daily tweets a user could see, prompting users to explore alternative platforms. By the end of July, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, admitted that Threads had fallen short of retaining more than 50% of its users.

Zuckerberg had previously mentioned that if Threads could onboard more than 100 million users, it would be considered a success if a majority of them stayed on the platform. However, this has yet to be achieved. He expressed that the decline in user numbers is not alarming and anticipates improvements with the introduction of new features to Threads.
