The Islamabad administration has announced Summer Vacations for all schools and colleges in the capital from June 1 to August 31. The decision has taken because of the scorching heat in the city.

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) issued a notification in this regard on Friday. The statement said that all government and private schools and colleges in Islamabad will remain closed from June 1 to August 31.

The notification said the summer vacation would apply to all classes, including Montessori, playgroup, primary, secondary, and higher secondary. It noted that the academic activities will resume on August 1.

The FDE said that the summer vacation would be utilized for the following purposes:

  • Physical verification of stock/stock checking.
  • Repair and maintenance of furniture/building/playgrounds.
  • In-house capacity development program (CDP) in the last week of July.

The FDE said that the Heads of Institutions would engage the necessary staff to manage all these activities when and where required.

The summer vacations in Islamabad is when the city is facing a heatwave. The temperature in Islamabad has been hovering around 40 degrees Celsius for the past few days.

The Islamabad administration has advised the citizens to take precautions against the heat. The administration has also set up special camps in different parts of the city to relieve the citizens from the heat.
