Govt Announces Public Holiday on Youm-e-Takbeer Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Declares May 28 as Public Holiday

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that May 28, Youm-e-Takbeer, will be observed as a public holiday to commemorate the historic day in 1998 when Pakistan conducted successful nuclear tests in the hills of Chaghai. This decision underscores the significance of Youm-e-Takbeer in the nation's history.

In his announcement, PM Shehbaz highlighted that Youm-e-Takbeer symbolizes the unity and resolve of the Pakistani nation to make the country's defense invincible. He emphasized that on this day, the entire nation had pledged to protect the integrity of Pakistan without yielding to any external pressures.

"Youm-e-Takbeer reminds political and defense forces to unite under one flag, the green crescent flag, to strengthen the defense of this country," the Prime Minister stated.

PM Shehbaz also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Army for their pivotal roles in fortifying the nation's defense capabilities. He acknowledged the contributions of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who initiated Pakistan's nuclear program, and the scientists who ensured its success.

"The entire nation, including myself, pledges to work tirelessly to ensure the economic security of Pakistan, just as we made the country's defense impregnable on May 28, 1998," the Prime Minister added.

The Nuke Tests

Pakistan's nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, not only demonstrated the nation's determination to safeguard its territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty but also highlighted the commitment to maintaining strategic balance in South Asia.
