Google has recently changed their privacy and security policy features. Now, you cannot leave your google account inactive for more than 2 years or else it will be deleted. This means that your Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos if left dormant for more than 2 years will be deleted. Yesterday, the company already issued a notice to users who have not used their Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos functionalities for more than two years. Their content will be permanently deleted from their servers. This policy will start from the 1st of June 2021 and will be enforced in 2023. Google has now also stopped users from exceeding their 15 GB limit. So, if your limit exceeds 15 GB for two consecutive years and you do not upgrade to Google One, the company now has every right to delete the contents in your Gmail, Drive and Photos. So, if you wish to keep your data safe, you should not leave your Google account inactive while also not exceeding your storage limit which is of 15 GB.

If you wish to use more than 15 GB you can always upgrade to a Google One plan. Moreover, the notice also talks about the fact that any third party application which uses the server is also taken into consideration. So, the easiest way you can keep your account active and avoid your files from being deletes is by using it regularly. Either use google search or google mail. Google will also notify you if your account is inactive or it exceeds the storage space. If you do not pay heed to it, your google account will be deleted.
