As our technology develops, we also change our opportunities in many different areas. One such is games, everyone who has played games since the 90s has experienced incredible changes and improvements in what games can handle and what they look like.

Flash and HTML5

Adobe Flash, formerly known as Macromedia Flash and Shockwave Flash, is a multimedia and software platform for creating vector graphics, animations, games and rich internet applications. For games in particular, there are many flash game sites online, many big and small  studios that program these games.

HTML5 stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, the technology has been used for over 20 years to create websites, with this system you can embed multimedia tools such as animations and videos with a text file. One of the biggest advantages of HTML5 in particular is that you can render multimedia without having to use a plugin or playback applications. This technology intends to replace rich internet application platforms such as Adobe Flash as some newer machines such as smartphones and tablets have had problems with flash applications. Many gaming and casino sites have taken the opportunity to convert their games to HTML5 so that they can be played on as many devices as possible.

Virtual Reality

For those who stay somewhat updated in terms of new technology, but also for many who do not, it is difficult to have missed the myriad of articles and news that revolve around virtual reality, or VR. Much of this started with the Oculus Rift, which in turn began as a project on Kick starter.

One can probably mistakenly say that there has been a lot of hype about VR, and specifically Oculus Rift because it started there, but everyone is far from convinced that they will be the next big thing, the Swedish gadget site M3 has something to say about just Oculus Rift. A number of games already exist for VR Headsets and more are in development, it is not difficult to see the potential for games in VR, but whether this potential can be achieved is not yet certain, we can just wait and see.
