After several days of rumors, in the end Apple has ended up announcing something that many of us already expected: the arrival of lossless audio and Spatial Sound with support for Dolby Atmos sound. Apple is committed to quality sound and thus offer an alternative to Tidal and incidentally is ahead of Spotify with its high-fidelity audio proposal. Users will have to wait until June to start testing this improvement.
For everyone and without price increase
The arrival of Spatial Audio on Apple Music with support for Dolby Atmos. Apple also affirms that it will offer access to more than 75 million songs with lossless audio, Lossless Audio, and in this way offer a faithful reproduction of the original content created by the artists.
We have already talked about Dolby Atmos on other occasions. An object-based system that provides an immersive audio experience and that applied to music allows us to simulate how sound can come from everywhere.
In the announcement, Apple has reported that Apple Music will automatically play Dolby Atmos tracks on all AirPods and Beats headphones that feature an H1 or W1 chip, as well as on the speakers built into the latest versions of iPhone, iPad and Mac.

In order to access this improvement, Apple Music will be expanding its catalog with new tracks compatible with Dolby Atmos audio, while creating new Dolby Atmos playlists to help listeners find the music they love. To make it easier for these songs to be identified, Dolby Atmos albums will have a badge on the details page.
As of June, this new variant will begin operating within Apple Music, covering, according to the company, “thousands of songs on Spatial Audio” with some of the most important artists in the world and with music of all genres, including hip -hop, country, latin, pop and classic.
Apple Music will also make its catalog of more than 75 million songs available on Lossless Audio, made possible by the use of ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec). This way Apple Music users will be able to listen to exactly what the artists created in the studio.
In order to access this improvement, subscribers who use the latest version of Apple Music must activate it in “Settings> Music> Audio quality” and in this section choose the resolution to use depending on the connection we are using (Wi-Fi , data…)
The Lossless level of Apple Music starts at CD quality, which is 16-bit at 44.1 kHz (kilohertz), goes up to 24-bit at 48 kHz, and can be played natively on Apple devices. As a top quality, Apple Music offers access to Hi-Resolution Lossless audio up to 24-bit at 192 kHz. 1
Finally, we must talk about availability. Apple claims that Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio will be available to Apple Music subscribers at no additional cost.
