Schools across Pakistan will open tomorrow, March 1, after a long holiday from school due to the new coronavirus outbreak. All educational institutions open regularly from today.

On February 26, Federal Education Minister Shafkat Mahmoud said that all students will be attending school regularly from March 1 onwards.

All schools will return to regular classes starting March 1. It reiterates that SOPs issued by the ministry in consultation with Health / NCOC remain fully applicable to schools with a particular focus on mask use, physical distancing and hand washing, he wrote on Twitter.

On the other hand, the Sindh government on Sunday (today) challenged Federal Education Minister Shafkat Mahmoud's decision to allow 5-day regular classes starting March 1, saying the announcement "caused confusion among students".

In this regard, Saeed Ghani said that following the provincial government's decision, schools were only allowed to attend 50%, adding that regular classes could not be continued due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He stressed the importance of following the Coronavirus Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), adding that children who go to school must maintain social distancing in the classroom.

"How do kids maintain social distancing when we allow 100% participation?" Ghani asked.

"After the pandemic is over, all children will be allowed to go to school," he added.

"The decision to open a school was also made by the commission," he said. Reuters
